Tips and Advice: Eyes - General 1. Tip: Flirty Eye Makeup Interested in applying eye makeup for a flirty look? Make your eyes look you're not weary any eye cosmetics at all. Prepare the eyelids with a base to hold the eye makeup in place. Apply a layer of flesh colored shadow across the lid (salmon or soft pink). You don't want the shadow to be noticeable. Sweep a line of icy blue cream liner across the lash base. Apply mascara that will thicken and lengthen the lashes. ------------------------------ 2. Tip: Brow Sealer Brow sealer is a great way to keep your brows exactly where you want them. Tinted shades are available if you want to try to add color they work well. Or if you prefer there is clear as well. When using brush the eyebrow straight up and then using the tip of the brush sculpt your brow into place. ------------------------------ 3. Tip: Enhancing Green Eyes To enhance green eyes wear blues, browns, or bronze colors around your eye. Then your green will shine through! ------------------------------ 4. Tips for "Young" Eye Makeup When applying eye makeup to make your eyes look younger, first apply a little eye cream on the brow bone and under the eye to reduce fine lines. Dab on a skin tone-matching concealer. Line the eye with white pencil beneath the lash line to for larger, brighter eyes. If your eyes look crepey, stay away from bright colors. Soft-colored eye cosmetics are more flattering and less aging. ------------------------------ 5. Tip: Smokey Eye Makeup Eye makeup tips often include advice on creating a smoky look. Some suggest black eye cosmetics, but you can try a slightly lighter shade of eye makeup like coffee or chocolate brown. Lining your eyes with charcoal black eyeliner can make eyes look very small. Perhaps just lining the outer corners of your eyes would enhance the smoky look. Try both and see which you prefer. ------------------------------ 6. Tip: Layering Eye Makeup When applying eye makeup, layer your colors instead of applying one heavy layer of shadow. Start with one light coat of color. If it is too light, add another layer. Building layers is an easy way to give your eyes depth without looking like a raccoon. ------------------------------ 7. Tip: Frost or matte? The frosted shadows might have looked good when you were twenty, but if you´ve developed even a hint of wrinkles around the eyes, drop the frosts. Use a tiny bit of matte in a neutral color. Frosts only highlight the tops of the wrinkles, making them stand out more and become more noticeable. ------------------------------ 8. Tip: Even Eyeshadow Base Before you apply your eyeshadow, take a translucent loose powder and brush it over your eyelid area. It will help the colors appear more vibrant! ------------------------------ 9. Tip: Long Lasting Shadow To prolong the life of your eyeshadow use a good shadow base. Shadow base helps the color grab on to your eyelid and last all day. Thanks to tipster Nsync for letting me know this tip was needed! ------------------------------ 10. Tip: Close set eyes To make your close set eyes appear not so close apply your darker eyeshadow on the outer portion of your eye. Bring your lighter shadow near your nose. This will give the illusion of your eyes being set further apart. ------------------------------ |
